Well guys and girls, all I can say is that we know you won’t be disappointed. Everything from a 1932 Ford Roadster to a 1969 VW Karmann Ghia to a 1957 Chevrolet Belair and everything inbetween – somewhere round 130 cars and bikes so there should be something for everyone.
Apologies for the foters but it’s now about 4am and there was no editing involved.
We can’t wait to see you all there ….
After many weeks and much preparation the day of setting up is finally upon us. Bring it on !!!!
If you’re an entrant or trade displayer this can start anytime after 5pm until all hours of the morning but obviously the sooner this is done the better. Just remember folks that there’s going to be an awful lot of people there at 5 o’clock all trying to do the exact same thing in the exact short period of time so hopefully you’ll all be patient.
If you’re a member of the public just itching to get in then there’s only one more sleep and we’ll see you between the hours of 8am to 7pm on Saturday and 8am to 3pm on Sunday ….
Well, with 3 days (or about 72 hours left) until setup time things are ticking along quite nicely. We started running all the power boxes tonight for you to plug your *tagged* power leads into and with the little bit of extra room we acquired earlier on this week it looks like we’re going to need it. All that’s left to say to you entrants and trade displayers is “hang onto your hats – it looks it’s gunna be a biggy”, and to the general public “this is going to be the best $15 you’ve spent all year”. See you there ….
Only about a week left now and things are shaping up to be one of the best Rocky Motor Show’s ever for both entrants and the general public alike.
For us a lot of things are running out.
Time. That’s definitely on the downhill slope.
And spaces. With a lot of people officially accepted last weekend we’ve still got to look at each and every entry received past then where hopefully we’ll be able to accommodate everyone worthy of a position, but we’ve got absolutely no idea why a lot of people have left sending their entry in until the last minute – so because of this we have secured more space than was originally allocated by the guys and girls at Stockland but even that mightn’t be enough.
Here’s some more recent entries ….
This world as we all know it is definately a much sadder place as of yesterday with the passing of our dear friend Unkey Milt. He was always first and foremost a distinguished gentleman, then a mate to everyone who encountered his boyish charm or listened to his stories of past experiences or saw that smile that sometimes appeared to be bigger than his head itself.
The world’s most premier carshow announcer will not be able to do what he did best at our show. I don’t know if it was the actual working at this long standing event or hogging into a Cranston’s pie or two while he was here that gave him the enjoyment, but either way, it was one of the things he talked about. On and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.
Goodbye me dear friend. I guess it’s true about only the good dying young because to me you were always a teenager trapped in the body of a just past middle aged man.
From all the Rocky “Chev Teddies” ….
The decisions have been made finally by the 2010 Rocky Motor Show committee concerning exactly who’s been accepted and who hasn’t been accepted so if you’re an entrant you should have received your advice one way or another by now but if not then it shouldn’t be too far off. Maybe shoot me off a quick email if you’re concerned about it ….
Here a few pretty foters of what’s shown up this week.
So with less than 3 weeks to go it’s fair to say that we’ve come round the final bend. There’s still a million a one things to do and that’s only going to get worse as it all get closer. But it’ll all be worth it in the end we’re sure ….
Just a quick reminder that there’s still ones out there who are supposedly entering or partaking in one way or another - so if you know who they are please give them a little nudge. Or even a smack over the back of the head. Whatever gets it done ….
And what did we get this week ????
I just thought you’d like to see more of what you’ll be looking at in 3 weeks and 5 days so here’s just a few of the entries we’ve received in the past week. If you don’t see a car or bike there that should be there have a look at the bit just below this one that’s got the link to all the relevant forms. Can you hear that tick tock sound ….
Have you lost a form that you might be needing ???? There’s still a little bit of room left so you haven’t missed out quite yet, just find what you’ve got to fill out and send it in. Try these ones on for size …..

With places for entries becoming rapidly full, now might be a good time to suggest that if you are intending on coming but haven’t filled out your form – right now would be agood time to do it.
A few of us had the pleasure of attending Wintersun over the weekend to catch up with a few people and finalize a lot more entries than were expected.
Here’s some of the more noticeable things found down there ….
There’s only seven weeks to go ….
For those of you who’ll be receiving the “limited free accommodation” we’ve changed from the two motels used last time to only one this time . Apart from being a better place than the others put together this way there’ll be more rooms and you’ll all be in the one area. Here’s a link to their website to find out more about what it’s like and also how to get there.
With all the setting up and planning involved for our shindig – I’ve sofar completely forgotten to mention the larger event that we’re part of. For more info on the Camco Group MotorMania CQ just avert your eyes to the right hand side of this page to get the link that gets onto it. Apart from being something that Rocky needs and has waited so long for, it’s going to be bigger than my Nanna’s undies ….
If you’re planning on coming up for our two day extravanganza (and let’s face it – who isn’t ????) please have a serious think about staying even longer and participating or at least viewing the full nine day programme, or at maybe just popping back for the following weekends planned activities.
Something else being organised by members of the Central Queensland Chevrolet Club Inc., along with All Classic Motor Club lnc., the Highway 66 Rodders, and SEQ All Chrysler Connections Car Club is a “Show N Shine and Super Cruise”.
Here’s a link that’ll give you all the info about it. Show N Shine & Super Cruise
Other things on the go at the moment are Street Sprints, Motocross, Rally, Mud racing, Dyno Challenge, Car Boot Sale ….. the list goes on.
So while you’re thinking about the 2010 Rockhampton Motor Show, please also have a think about what’s following that the next week here in Rockhampton ….
It sounds as if there’s still some confusion out there with a few people regarding who we are and what this is all about.
The Central Queensland Chevrolet Club Inc. hosts The Rockhampton Motor Show and it was originally started in 1988. It was then held each and every year up until 2000 when the decision was made to only have them every second year, so we’ve been putting this event biannually since then (except the last one which was scheduled to be on in 2008 but was postponed due to major shopping centre venue renovations).
So, no – this isn’t just something that was started recently. And also, yes – it’s put on by a not for profit club instead of a private promoter.
I hope that clears up any uncertainties or reservations you might have, but if you want more info don’t be scared to shoot me off a message.
The entry forms have been coming in thick and fast thank you very much, and with only 8 weeks left that’s not entirely a bad thing. Here’s a quick sneak peak of one that rolled up a few days ago.
Haven’t got an entry form yet? Well don’t panic, simply download the form below, print it out and send it into us.
